Loss of Integrity

Two things have annoyed me today (so few, I hear you cry). The first was picking up the Wembley Times and seeing exclusive slapped on their lead story. This is not the first time the Wembley Times has misused this word and I have called and spoken to their editor about it on two previous occasions.

This time they claim today's lead story about a dead baby found in an attic is exclusive to them. I wonder how this can be so when it was in the Standard yesterday, the Metro this morning, teletext last night as well as on page three of the Wembley and Willesden editions of our Leader which came out this morning, same as them.

This misuse of an important journalistic tool undermines the integrity of all newspapers. When the only paper which loses its integrity is the Wembley Times.

Secondly, I was disappointed to read a report of Peter Hain's radio interview in Belfast where he appears to claim that the Millennium Stadium is better than Wembley and that new stadium's ought to be built in the suburbs. I expect he hasn't had a look around the stadium yet and is unaware of the fantastic transport links it has with the rest of the country. Anyone who has been to Cardiff (I watched my team Southampton lose to Arsenal in the FA Cub final in 2003) will appreciate just how keen the Welsh are to keep you in Wales.

I agree with you that is ludricous that the Wembley Times should call a nationwide story an exclusive.
I too had read it in papers out the day before.
However, I have noted your paper calling stories exclusive too in similar circumstances. I recall a story being called an exclusive although it was published in the Wembley Times the week before!!
Anyway keep up the good work I don't know what has happened to your rivals but you have been eclipsing them in the last few motnhs!

Sir,

cannot agree that women should be allowed to attend football matches and would request that the editor refrains from publicly flaunting said attendance.
